Our VCT Analysis Services provides access to Smith & Williamson’s in-house research and analysis.

We have been involved in providing bespoke VCT advice to our clients for over 10 years and therefore we have a long-standing internal review process for VCT offers. Although based upon a defined structure and methodology, our analyst meets with each fund manager face-to-face, which we believe provides a crucial opportunity to critically assess the individuals who will ultimately be responsible for managing our clients’ money.

As a diverse financial services and tax planning group, we are also able to call upon the expertise of our Investment Management, Corporate Finance and Corporate Tax divisions for a specialist opinion, or personal references on the individuals involved with a VCT offer, to add to our review process.

Review Criteria

When assessing each VCT there are five key areas on which our final judgement is based. These areas are:

1. Track Record
2. Management
3. People
4. Costs
5. Exit Strategy

Each fund then receives a score out of five.

We do not accept special commission enhancements for VCTs from their managers or promoters. This is so that potential investors can be certain that our review process is independent and impartial.
